Thanks for the sympathy.  I have the old tmp/ dir lying around,
but will be away for the next couple of weeks, so if you need
some follow-up from me based on that, it'll be a while till I get
back to you.

FWIW, the signer has continued running as it should since I
managed to get it running again.
