[Opendnssec-user] exit code for ods-control?

Hi:

While doing testing on OpenDNSSEC, i found out ods-control doesn't
provide any signaling if the signer actually stopped or not.

While signing a big zone I issued the command

/usr/local/opendnssec/sbin/ods-control stop

The exit code was 0, but the signer was not stopped.

After that, there is no way to check if the signer actually stopped or
not or the current status of the signing process
(like a list of signing threads working).

Does it make sense then to:
- return an exit code != 0 if the signer process is waiting for something?
- provide some command like "ods-signer status" or "ods-control signer
status" to see if the signing process actually stopped?

Has anyone required similar functionality that has been solved using
shell scripts?

cheers,
