It looks like Jerrys "dead mans handle" script has done its job and
thrown jenkins into confusion as soon as he has left...

A couple of the builds had stalled, which had everything else queueing
behind them, so I killed them off and we'll see if it recovers...

My troubleshooting notes are limited to:

so I may have a few false starts as I try to fix it.
