I have recently converted a large database from MySQL to MariaDB, and am very happy with the results.

I have downgraded jenkins from v1.500 to v1.499 as v1.500 is not loading all jobs. There is a similar bug report already filed against v1.500 - https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-16568 although we are seeing this on a single axis matrix job.

I have disabled auto updates of jerkins until this is fixed.

Something strange happened to Jenkins last night...

If the test passed on one it failed on the other. (Although failed as in

I've cleared out the workspaces on the two jobs and re-run them and they seem happy. I can only guess that it was an effect of moving jobs between folders and the scripts not cleaning up old files correctly. I'll take a look at this in more detail next week.

Hi All, 

I've made a couple of updates to jenkins over the last few days whilst Sion and I have been trying to write some more regression tests:

- I've added two new jobs: test-opendnssec-sandbox (and 1.3 equivalent) and supporting scripts and test directories. The idea is that these jobs/directories can be used to try out tests that have been developed (locally on one machine) across all the platforms without having to put the job into one of the main directories. The default and daily tests can take a while to run so this would make it quicker to make small changes to the test script and re-run the test if there are platform dependancies. The assumption is that in using the sandbox no code updates are needed, only tweaks to the test scripts to get the test to pass everywhere. Also - tests could be left in the sandbox while failing on some platforms while problems are investigated. The jobs poll every 10 mins for changes to the test-cases-sandbox.d directory and they are configured not to generate any emails. The jobs are also set up slightly differently and run the tests on both SQLITE and MYSQL in one run. Hopefully this will be useful - let me know what you think.

- I've also added optimisations to the build jobs so that they don't get triggered if the only change in svn is to the contents of the testing/test-casesX.d directories (and to the test-opendnssecX jobs so they ignore changes to the daily or sandbox directories). This seems to work OK - but if you see anything unexpected happening with the builds do let me know!

You can announce that fix.


On a side note: I was thinking today if we should announce SUPPORT
issues in the NEWS file. Until now I did, but I am starting to think we
should only announce OPENDNSSEC issues. The SUPPORT issue may be
resolved by a related OPENDNSSEC issue and can be closed without
announcing, or may be an incorrect report (user error, unclarity, ...).

And if there is a fix required, the SUPPORT issue should always be
linked with an OPENDNSSEC issue.

Perhaps something for a meeting of a different mail thread...

I would be happy to see everything that goes in the NEWS have an OPENDNSSEC issue so it gets tracked/reviewed properly and then we could have a format like

Hi, 

The jenkins server is going to move to a new IP address next week. I have just turned down the TTL on the current A record to 5 minutes. Once this change has propagated (Monday) I will switch the IP address to the new one. I plan to do this and the necessary firewall changes between 12:00 and 13:00 UTC on Monday so the server may be unreachable for a short while. I will let you know when the work is complete.

If I also had remembered to put an alarm on it I would not have
forgotten about it.

Hi all,

The JIRA upgrade is complete and we are now running the latest version,
5.2.7. Please contact me if you experience any issues with the updated
system. I've had a quick look and everything seems to be in working
order, but Prolocation told me that the upgrade was complicated because
apparently Atlassian has changed some things w.r.t. plugins.
