 Not being able to reproduce this, makes it hard to resolve.

 My observation:
 The argument on line line 84 in segfault-on-exit.log is strange. Perhaps I
 should explicitly finalize the character array with a '\0'? (But wouldn't
 the segfault occur earlier?)

 I tried so in the OpenDNSSEC-1.2 branch (r4512). Could you try it out?
