Thanks -- and agreed.  I was confusing the signer and zone_fetcher.
(Just back from holiday, apparently some things have slipped.)

As for getting this command from KASP Enforcer, I don't believe this
is actually true.  I cannot find references to the socket anywhere
except in configfiles and makefiles.  Experiments confirm that I
currently need to "ods-control update" manually -- which is understandable
with the registry target of 1.1 in mind.
