If people don't want to stay overnight, then I think that Oxford is 
probably out - even by car, the journey between Heathrow and Nominet will 
add at least an hour each way onto the travel time.  The bus journey time 
of 90 minutes each way is to the centre of oxford - add 20 minutes or so 
to get to Nominet from there.

So it does seem as if we are looking at Amsterdam or a hotel near 
Heathrow.
